Coach Monty Scholarship - Jamie

2024

After a Successful trial in Argentina at the back end of 2023 Jamie signed for Huracan Trelew and joined up with them earlier this year. Jamie has successfully shown himself in the under 17s and resvere team recently earning himself a call up to the first team. On debut, Jamie scored a hat trick in the team’s 6-1 win. Incredible stuff well done Jamie. Being in a full time professional environment Jamie has been eating breathing and playing football 24/7 training several times a day. There have been challenges as you would expect living away from home in a country with a different language etc. Jamie has grown and matured much through this experience and will give him a strong foundation for everything moving forward. Although he has been far still have been able to provide Jamie with guidance and mentorship from my own experience in professional environments and the challenges that come with it. Jamie has found this helpful and as a result given him comfort in having somewhere to understand his journey. we are proud of Jamie and his efforts and look forward to whatever the future brings for him.

2023

In 2023 we added Jamie to the scholarship program alongside Hamse and Keen.

Jamie impressed me a lot last year with his technical ability and attitude to training as much as possible in order to improve. If Jamie is not training with me or playing matches he is playing in his backyard. Making videos of himself working on his touch, skills, and finishing. At the age of 16 this year Jamie is still able to play under 17s but is also pushing himself to be a competitive player in the under23s team. Jamie also received a pair of boots at the start of the season. Thanks to www.nzbootroom.com for sponsoring. Look forward to updating you on Jamie’s progress throughout the season.

At the midpoint of the season an update on Jamie’s progress. Jamie has made a big impact coming off the bench in a competitive 23s team at Manurewa. Always working hard and training even more Jamie has assisted 3 times and scored once ( diving header ) for the under-23s. He has also scored multiple times in the under17s. Jamie has come along a lot, especially in the last week where he has started to show his strong attacking abilities more consistently. Well done Jamie.

The footballing season here in New Zealand has come to and end for the year. It seems like a great time to update you on Jamie’s prgress since the mid season update. My gosh has alot happened since we last caught up. Jamie is currently in Argentina on trial with teams from the first, second, and third divisions. His trials have been going very well and if things go as planned there will be potential for Jamie to sign on a more permanent basis. Jamie has been able to experience Argentina to the fullest, attending top-tier football matches played between some of Argentina’s finest. Jamie has continued to grow and develop as a player and person this season. developing his mental strength and resilience was an important focus for Jamie’s development this season. Jamie impressed for the under 23 scoring a total of 5 goals and 7 assists. 3 goals and 5 assists down at the Napier tournament and also made his first-team debut start for Manurewa's first team. it has been an incredible season for Jamie we look forward to continuing the good work with Jamie over the summer and seeing what we can achieve together in 2024.
