Coach Monty Scholarship - Hamse

2024

At the beginning of the year we provided Hamsea with some gear and some football boots for the season ahead. When speaking with Hamse about somethings he wanted to achieve regarding football it was the same as Keen to score a goal for the first team ( Manurewa AFC ) however Hamse also had another target and that was to get closer to his faith and religion and work towards understanding Arabic. Speaking with Hamse throughout the year I have noticed a positive change with how he looks at life and challenges. there is a wise perspective and thinking which allows him to think about things in a relaxed and helpful way. Hamse puts a lot of this down to becoming closer to his religion and faith. I’m very pleased and proud of Hamse as I am all these boys. Its amazing to see Hamse grow as a football but more importantly a person.

2024 Part 2

A quiet year for Hamse on the football front where he stayed at Manurewa and had some appearances for the under-23s team while occasionally training with the first team. Have had a fantastic year of development at school passing his NCEA level 2 with flying colors there were a lot of changes in Hamse's life this year with moving and finding a way to adapt to new environments. Initially hesitant to change as most of us are Hamse approached everything with an open mind and adapted incredibly well. Hamses successfully passed his driving test and is going into next year full of optimism looking to work on getting some electrical apprenticeship experience. While also looking to join a new footballing environment to find a new challenge. Stay tuned for that one!

2023

Hamse is back for another season of the coach Monty scholarship program.

We started off the year really positively by getting some boots sponsors on board to provide a pair of boots for Hamse and Jamie (another player on this year’s scholarship) a massive thank you to NZBOOTROOM. Check them out if you're looking for some boots at www.nzbootroom.com.

Hamse so far this year has been training with the first team at Manurewa more than he has been with the 23s. This is a testament to himself his attitude and ability. With the season about to start we are excited about what the new year will bring. Look forward to keeping you updated on Hamse's progress throughout the year.

A mid season update for young Hamsea.

Hamsea has hit a purple patch of form for the under 23s scoring 3 times and assisting once so far this season. Hamsea is pushing hard to try make his debut this year and is striving for consistency in his performances. As a young player Hamsea has a tremendous work rate, one of the best I have seen. Over long period of time this work ethic will carry him through to greater success. Well done Hamsea keep going.

End of season Update. Hamse had another successful season, playing a lot of minutes for the under-23s and making his debut in the Manurewa first team at the Northern regional level, and also at the national level. Hamse was also selected for New Zealand secondary schools and under 16 level. Hamse moved from forward to box-to-box midfielder this season. A position change that had a positive impact on Hamse who has thrived in this role. a position that highlights all his qualities both on and off the ball. Hamse really matured this year as a footballer and also a person. I couldn’t be more excited for Hamse's future both on and off the pitch we will be there to help support him in all moments good and bad. The highs with the lows everything in life is either a lesson or a blessing.

2022

In 2022 Hamse received the first-ever coach Monty scholarship. This was very exciting for me and Hamse as we looked forward to the season ahead.

Throughout the season we were able to provide Hamse with 3 pairs of new football boots and one pair of running shoes. Although the scholarship program mentions we provide one pair of boots for the season we were able to do more for Hamse.

Hamse plays striker, one of the most important positions in football. Throughout the year we spent many hours in 1 on 1 session looking at his technique and different shot variations. The commitment of Hamse to improve and develop cannot be understated. For a term during the Coach Monty Academy Programme, we trained at 5:30 am once a week every Monday. Hamse was always there improving and training.

The proof is in the pudding!

By the end of the season, Hamse was playing 23s football every weekend. As the season progressed Hamse was also being called to train with the first team more and more regularly. By the end of the season, Hamse finished as the top goal scorer for the under-23s team and picked up several awards at the end-of-season prize giving. Not bad for a 15-year-old. Great work Hamse a young man that’s a huge credit to himself and his family.

We wanted to help as much as possible after we saw how much effort and work Hamse was putting in and how well he was progressing. When training a lot looking after your body and recovering well is just as important. we were able to hook Hamse up with a massage gun from recover plus (thanks to them for donating the massage gun and other things to help with recovery such as protein powder and shakes provided for Hamse throughout the year.
