Coach Monty Scholarship - Keen

2024

In 2024 we see Keen joining us for his second year on the Coach Monty scholarship programme. This season Keen joined up with Auckland United FC to continue his footballing journey. this after a highly successful year for Keen at Manurewa where he broke records by becoming the youngest-ever starter in the Northern League. Catching up with Keen at the beginning of the year one of Keen’s targets for this year is to score a goal in a first team match for Auckland United. Although Keen has yet to start a match for the first team, he has impressed in the under-17 and reserve team scoring goals and creating a lot with his dangerous 1 vs 1 play and speed on the wing. Has helped the under-23 team with his performances and with his help now sit on top of the table. I’m sure Keen’s hard work and endeavors will see him getting some first-team minutes soon.

2023

In 2023 we added Keen alongside Jamie and Hamse to the scholarship programme.

Keen is a fantastic boy with the world's biggest smile. He is an amazing dribbler with a positive attitude to learn and improve. A boy who loves football and loves life. Such as Keen’s commitment, You can often find him riding his bike just to be able to make it to training. We were able to provide Keen with 2 pairs of boots for the start of the season. One soft ground and one firm ground pair for when the winter rolls around. So far this season Keen has trained on a couple of occasions with the first team and is one of the first names on the under-23s team sheet having already scored twice in pre-season so far this year. Keen can play winger and also striker, at 15 years old he has a bright future ahead of him. Look forward to keeping you up to date with his progress throughout the year.

A mid-season update for Keen, a great first half of the season for young Keen. Having now played twice for the first team he has impressed not only with his performances but also his terrific attitude. With the brightest smile you have ever seen Keen is hard to miss. With 5 goals in the league for the under23s so far this season and regular training with the first team Keen is going from strength to strength. With a great eye for goal and a natural dribbler, Keen has improved everyone on and off the pitch.

End of Season update on young Keen. Keen went on to play several more times for the first team, with both a couple of starts and appearances off the bench. Keen start earned him the honor of being the youngest-ever player at the time to start in a Northern League match. Keen was impressive at this level and also during the under 19 Napier tournament where he stood out among other talented players. Keen’s success for the year was recognized both with club and school honors. At school ( Rosehill College) keen received the Sportsman of the Year award. AtManurewa Keen picked up a handful of trophies ( 5 in total ) including Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year. We look forward to what 2024 will bring for Keen with his positivity and tireless efforts anything is possible!
